Tokenized catastrophe bonds, stablecoin custody and ENS migration plans lead the afternoon Wire.

Tokenized catastrophe bonds are being pitched as a way to finance risks that traditional insurance leaves hard to place. A new structure discussed in Bermuda would put catastrophe-bond exposure onchain, with backers pointing to flood and typhoon risk as examples. The appeal is a broader funding pool and more flexible transfer of insurance-linked risk. The constraint is familiar: tokenization does not change the quality of the underlying risk, its modelling assumptions or the claims process. For DeFi, it is another test of whether an onchain wrapper can add liquidity without obscuring what investors actually own. CoinDesk

Standard Chartered is extending its digital-asset custody footprint with RLUSD support in Dubai. The bank said it also plans to connect the stablecoin to LMAX collateral infrastructure, following prior custody expansion into Singapore, Hong Kong and Luxembourg. The move matters less as a consumer stablecoin story than as market plumbing: regulated custody and collateral links can reduce operational friction for institutions moving between tokenized cash and trading venues. The remaining question is how much actual institutional balance-sheet activity follows the infrastructure. CoinDesk

The ENS team wants the DAO to activate ENSv2 and briefly pause new .eth registrations on the current system. Under the proposal, existing names would keep working and new sign-ups would reopen on ENSv2 after a short transition. The migration is a reminder that naming systems are core infrastructure, not merely user-interface features. Wallet routing, application integrations and recovery workflows all depend on a change being executed cleanly. Unchained

Ledger says confirmed CryptoBilis cases are limited, while onchain investigators continue tracing stolen funds. CoinDesk reported that up to $93 million has been traced and $10 million frozen, with more than $81 million still visible despite movement through mixing services. The distinction matters for users: a hardware wallet's security model is separate from the reseller, support and social channels around it. Incident response must cover those distribution paths as well as the device itself. CoinDesk

Tokenized stock trading is concentrated outside regular U.S. market hours, according to an IMF study of Ondo and xStocks tokens. The study found that many trades were for less than one share and that overnight token moves showed up in the underlying stocks shortly after the open. That is useful evidence of demand for always-on access, but it also keeps the focus on market structure. Liquidity, price formation and the relationship between token and underlying equity remain more important than the wrapper alone. Unchained

The common theme is infrastructure at the edges of finance: risk transfer, custody, identity, incident response and market access. The products differ, but each depends on whether operational controls hold when volume and stress increase.
