France's budget debate puts stablecoin activity in the tax spotlight. A National Assembly committee backed amendments that would tax stablecoin swaps and some crypto exits by high-value holders, then rejected the revenue section of the 2027 budget, according to Decrypt. That leaves the measures in flux rather than law. Still, the episode shows where policy scrutiny is heading: policymakers are looking beyond crypto-to-fiat sales toward transactions inside the on-chain economy. For users and platforms, the distinction between a proposal, a committee vote and enacted tax law matters as much as the headline rate. Source: Decrypt

HSBC and Ant Digital are testing how AI agents could spend tokenized deposits. The firms ran a technical trial in which agents discovered services, made micropayments and settled through HSBC tokenized deposits, Cointelegraph reported. The test also included risk checks before settlement. It is early infrastructure work, not a consumer product, but it frames tokenized bank money as programmable working capital rather than only a faster payments rail. The hard part will be governance: an agent that can initiate a payment also needs clear limits, audit trails and a human accountable for exceptions. Source: Cointelegraph

Bitcoin-denominated insurance has raised fresh capital. Meanwhile, a Bermuda-based life insurer that operates in Bitcoin, said it raised $37.5 million from existing backers led by Bain Capital Crypto after a record year, Decrypt reported. The company says demand came from wealthy families across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The financing is a reminder that Bitcoin's financialization is not limited to trading venues and treasury strategies. But a policy priced and administered in BTC also changes the risk profile for both insurer and policyholder, since liabilities, reserves and purchasing power can all move with the asset.
