Prediction-market litigation, a stalled crypto bill and a hardware-wallet phishing incident lead the afternoon Wire.

Prediction markets are heading toward a Supreme Court test. A cluster of amicus briefs is asking the Court to take up the fight over whether sports-related prediction contracts are swaps or gambling products. The CFTC has also issued an interim final rule and a separate proposal on event contracts. The immediate question is jurisdiction, but the broader result could determine whether state gambling rules or federal derivatives oversight set the boundary for platforms such as Kalshi. A circuit split already makes the issue harder to ignore: the dispute is no longer only about a single product, but about which regulator gets the final word. CoinDesk
The Clarity Act's Senate delay is moving attention back to regulators. Crypto executives see room for innovation if legislation remains stalled, while legal specialists warn that a durable statutory framework is still absent. With the bill no longer advancing, the SEC and CFTC are likely to carry more of the near-term policy burden. That may produce faster agency guidance, but it also leaves market participants exposed to rule changes that a law could have settled. For protocols, exchanges and token issuers, the practical task remains the same: track enforcement and rulemaking closely because the operating framework may arrive piecemeal rather than through one comprehensive statute. Coldcard is investigating a phishing post from its official X account. The Bitcoin hardware-wallet company said a malicious link appeared in a now-deleted post despite its use of offline two-factor authentication and restricted account access. Users should treat links circulated from the affected post as unsafe while the investigation continues. The incident is a reminder that an account compromise can become a distribution risk even when the wallet product itself is unchanged. Security teams should separate the integrity of a signing device from the integrity of the social channels that direct users to software, support and recovery pages. Cointelegraph
Across these stories, the common issue is control at the boundary: which regulator governs a market, which rulebook governs an issuer, and which channel a user can trust. Those boundaries are operational risks, not just policy questions.
