Marinade says its council stopped a DAO takeover attempt before funds moved

Marinade said its council vetoed two governance proposals within six hours after identifying an attempted takeover. The protocol said no funds moved and staking services were unaffected. The episode is a useful reminder that governance is part of the security model: voting thresholds, emergency powers and the people able to use them can matter as much as the smart contracts. The useful follow-up is whether those powers are narrow, documented and observable before an emergency. Source: The Defiant, published October 1 at 07:46 UTC. A MetaMask infrastructure incident pushed Ethereum validators into precautionary exits

CoinDesk reported that a security incident affecting MetaMask's staking infrastructure prompted exits covering roughly 523,000 ETH in validators. An Ethereum security researcher estimated about 0.36 ETH in rewards was diverted, and the report said user funds were not at risk. For stakers, the important distinction is between a protocol's economics and the operational dependencies around it. Validator infrastructure, key management and incident response can affect rewards even when principal is protected. Exit timing and missed rewards are part of the position, not a footnote to the advertised rate. Source: CoinDesk, published October 1 at 07:06 UTC.

Lloyds and Visa settled $750,000 with USDC in a live cross-border pilot

Lloyds used USDC to settle $750,000 of payment obligations with Visa during a seven-day cross-border pilot, according to The Block. The number is small relative to either firm's normal payment volumes, but the structure matters: a regulated bank and a card network used a stablecoin for an actual settlement flow. Stablecoin yield is still separate from settlement utility, and users should not treat institutional pilots as a safety signal for every token carrying a dollar label. Settlement usage can grow while the risks of a specific issuer, venue or yield strategy remain unchanged. Source: The Block, published October 1 at 11:13 UTC.

Robinhood Wallet added routing for swaps into more than 190 stock tokens

Robinhood Wallet integrated Arcus as a routing provider for Stock Token swaps, giving eligible users access to more than 190 tokens, The Block reported. The rollout extends the distribution layer around tokenized equities, where liquidity, redemption terms and jurisdiction can differ from the underlying market. A token that references a stock is not automatically the same exposure as holding the stock through a traditional broker. The routing layer matters too, because quoted prices and available liquidity can vary between providers. Source: The Block, published October 1 at 13:00 UTC.

Dune data shows tokenized markets are building their own trading patterns

Cointelegraph cited Dune data putting tokenized real-world asset value at $34.5 billion, while noting that onchain markets do not always trade like their traditional counterparts. That gap can create opportunity, but it can also signal thin liquidity, fragmented venues or different settlement mechanics. The useful question is not whether an asset is tokenized. It is how it trades, who can redeem it and which risks sit between the token and the underlying claim. Price discovery outside market hours can be useful, but it also makes comparisons with the underlying venue less straightforward. Source: Cointelegraph, published October 1 at 10:50 UTC.
