A $6 million flash loan exploit hits Summer.fi's Lazy Summer Protocol, the latest reminder that headline yield means nothing without security.

Summer Finance drained for $6 million in flash loan attack DeFi lender Summer.fi lost about $6 million after an attacker targeted its Lazy Summer Protocol. On-chain analysts traced a $65.4 million flash loan that the exploiter used to force a $70.9 million redemption, pocketing the difference in a single transaction. Flash loan attacks keep working because they abuse pricing and accounting logic inside one atomic call, with no capital of the attacker's own ever at risk. It is the same failure pattern that has drained lending markets for years, and it is exactly what our scoring tries to catch before you deposit. Source: The Block, published July 6. Solana DeFi holds at $5.1B as USDC yields stay range-bound Total value locked across Solana DeFi sits near $5.07 billion, roughly flat on the week. Stablecoin lenders remain the anchor. Kamino tops USDC supply rates at about 6.34% APY, while Jupiter Lend holds the deepest book at close to 4.7% on more than $400 million in deposits. Yields have compressed from spring highs as fresh capital chases a fixed set of borrowers, a reminder that a headline APY means little without the liquidity and borrow demand sitting behind it. Bernstein holds $150K bitcoin target despite 54% drawdown Bitcoin trades near $62,900 after a slide that Bernstein calls milder than past cycles, and the firm is keeping its "ambitious" $150,000 year-end target. The case rests on the idea that this cycle's 54% peak-to-trough fall is shallow by historical standards, where 70% to 80% drawdowns were routine. Whether that reads as resilience or wishful thinking depends on flows from here. Price targets are cheap. Positioning is the real signal. Source: The Block, published July 6. Vitalik says Ethereum's next rebuild will rival the Merge Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum's coming overhaul could take three to four years and match the Merge in scope. Quantum safety has "shifted up a LOT in priority," he wrote, and Hegota, slated for later this year, will likely be the network's last "pre-Lean" hard fork before the deeper rework begins. For anyone staking ETH or building on top of it, this signals that the base layer is entering another long construction phase. Source: The Block, published July 5. South Korea drafts rules for seizing crypto South Korea is developing crypto-specific procedures for asset seizures and forced liquidation, according to a local report. The amendments would formalize how courts execute civil judgments against token holdings, closing a gap where older rules assumed cash or physical property. It is another step in the slow normalization of crypto inside legacy legal systems, and it matters for custody. Enforceable seizure means courts increasingly treat self-custodied wallets the way they treat bank accounts. Source: The Block, published July 6.
A fake Mac clipboard app is stealing crypto passwords Security researchers flagged a new macOS infostealer called PamStealer that impersonates Maccy, a widely used open-source clipboard manager. Once installed, it harvests saved passwords and credentials, the keys to exchange logins and hot wallets. Clipboard utilities are a natural target because users routinely paste seed phrases and wallet addresses through them. The fix is dull but effective. Install from source or verified stores only, and never paste a seed phrase anywhere. Source: Decrypt, published July 5.
